Harvest Festival Celebration
Sacred Heart Parish and the families of St Oswald's have donated food for those in our area who are unable to provide for themselves or their families. Some of the donations were displayed on the altar at Mass this morning along with a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The fresh vegetables that had been kindly donated from the Harvest Festival at Sacred Heart to the St. Vincent de Paul Support Centre at Blackfriars Newcastle were all used at the " Vinnies Café " that is run every Tuesday providing a free, freshly cooked and wholesome meal to those in need. This may be the elderly, isolated in need of friendship; it may be single parents looking for support; or the homeless seeking a hot meal and comfort; or, indeed, anyone we would regard as being in need of our help.
The photos attached show the Vinnies Cafe Supervisor Fiona Murray making the pumpkin soup.
