Music Activities for Pupils
The music service has put together an activity pack for pupils learning at home whereby children have the opportunity to submit their work direct to the music service and have a chance for it to be included on the music service site. See details below:
“MPN Newcastle is proud to launch our “Local Heroes” Project, designed to support schools and young people with their online musical learning over the coming weeks.
Each week, MPN Newcastle will set our young people, our very own local heroes, the challenge of responding to a different musical style in any way they wish. Whether students are learning from home or at school right now, we would love for them and their families to get involved. Our tutors will also be producing their own responses to share with you, so look out for some familiar faces.
Our first musical style is folk music. To access our resources, please could go the Local Heroes section on our website:
We will suggest a piece for young people to focus on for each style, but that doesn’t mean anyone wanting to get involved can't play or sing another piece, or research into other pieces or composers relating to each week's musical genre. We will be uploading lots of different resources to help everyone get inspired, and over the next few weeks we will be exploring folk music, rock and pop, classical music, musical theatre, music from around the world, and much, much more.
Basically we want everyone to get creative! Responses could be compositions, performances, songs or dances. Equally, they could be a piece of art, some creative writing or a research piece.
Check out our Local Heroes Activity Menu (on our website) for some ideas for each key stage.”
Our second musical style is pop music. To access our resources, please could go the Local Heroes section on our website:
Our third musical style is classical music. To access our resources, please could go the Local Heroes section on our website:
Our fourth musical style is musical theatre. To access our resources, please could go the Local Heroes section on our website:
