St Oswald's Day 2019
On Tuesday, children enjoyed the St Oswald's Day celebrations we held in school. The school council planned activities based around our Mission words, 'Living, Learning and Loving' and children spent the day with their house groups exploring these themes.
Living-Children focused on the theme of healthy Living and worked in house teams to complete the Daily Mile in unusual ways. They then worked in groups to create an active game that all children could compete in using a variety of sports equipment.
Learning- The school council would very much like to form partnerships with other St Oswald's Primary Schools around the U.K. In the 'learning' section of our day, Key Stage 1 children write to children in other schools asking questions to find out more about their school life. Children in Key stage 2 planned projects that a school partnership could work on together.
Loving- We began our 'Love During Lent' project by thinking about how we could support and show love to others. Children created hanging heart decorations which are available to take home for a small donation towards St Oswald's Hospice. We will also be sending some decorations to patients in the hospice to share our love and prayers with them during the season of Lent
House Saint- We wanted to find out more about our house Saint's so spent some time researching their history. Each child entered our 'Design a House Badge' Competition, House Captains will decide on the winners in the next few weeks.
